These workshops are also for people who are new to the Disability Rights or Independent Living Movement and want to learn more.) [ ] Inclusion, Intersectional Work, Race & Equity Track (These workshops are about how to include all people with disabilities in NCIL and at Centers for Independent Living (CILs) and Statewide Independent Living Councils (SILCs). [ ] SILC Track (These workshops are about how to run a good Statewide Independent Living Council (SILC). Read more about SILCs below.) Who is your target audience? (Choose one) * [ ] Front Line Staff and Consumers: These are workshops for Center for Independent Living (CIL) staff who work with consumers (people who get services from a Center for Independent Living). They can also be workshops for consumers themselves. [ ] Advocates and Project Directors: These are workshops for advocates or people at CILs that work on advocacy or programs. [ ] Executive Directors and Board Members: These are workshops on running a CIL or Statewide Independent Living Councils (SILCs) for Executive Directors or Board Members. [ ] Appropriate for all audiences Knowledge Level (choose one) * [ ] Newcomer: These are workshops for someone who is new to the Independent Living or Disability Rights Movement. This includes consumers, advocates, and new CIL staff. [ ] Experienced: These are workshops for someone who has worked in a CIL or SILC for a long time or who has been doing advocacy for a long time. [ ] Appropriate for all knowledge levels: These are workshops that anyone can join. Type of Presentation * [ ] Roundtable Discussion (These are workshops where someone helps the whole group have a discussion together about how to improve something.) [ ] Training Workshop (These are workshops where speakers share information to help the audience learn something they did not know. Workshop presenters work hard and have goals to make sure the audience is learning from the presentation. This can focus on building new skills. It can focus on changing attitudes. It can focus on increasing values.) [ ] Best Practice Symposia (These are workshops where the speakers tell the audience about the best way to do one thing really well. The speakers have done a lot of research ahead of time so that they are experts on the topic.) [ ] Lecture (This is a speech by an individual or a few people. The audience asks questions, usually at the end. Lectures should also have slides and handouts. They may also use flip charts or film.) [ ] Poster Session (A poster session is a poster board that includes information. Information on posters is usually about research. Conference attendees can read the posters and learn for themselves. Posters have pictures and words that share information about a topic.) [ ] Film Screening (Film screenings are rooms where people come together to watch a film together and discuss it. The films are typically documentaries, but can be any kind of film about disability. Documentaries are films that are about real people and events, instead of characters in a made up story.) Audio Visual & Setup NCIL will provide: * a table * two chairs * two microphones * a flipchart * and markers NCIL also provides two projectors and two screens. One is for presentations. The other is for Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART) captioning. CART captioning means someone types what the presenters say during the presentation. The words are shown on a screen. People attending the presentation can read them. Other Audio / Visual equipment is available, but the presenter will have to pay for it. NCIL staff can tell you how much extra equipment will cost. NCIL can also set it up for you. You must request extra Audio / Visual equipment before May 29, 2020. NCIL will send you a bill after the conference if you use extra Audio / Visual equipment.
