The End Subminimum Wage Coalition is a dedicated group of advocates and organizations united in the mission to eliminate subminimum wage practices that disproportionately affect individuals with disabilities. Recognizing that paying individuals below the minimum wage perpetuates economic inequality and undermines their rights to fair compensation, the coalition works to raise awareness and advocate for policy changes that promote competitive integrated employment. Founded by prominent organizations, including the National Council on Independent Living (NCIL), the American Association of People with Disabilities, the Autistic Self Advocacy Network, and the National Association of Councils on Developmental Disabilities (NACDD), the coalition supports initiatives like the Transformation to Competitive Integrated Employment Act (TCIEA) to ensure individuals with disabilities have access to meaningful job opportunities and the chance to earn a living wage. Through collaboration, education, and grassroots advocacy, the End Subminimum Wage Coalition aims to create a more equitable workforce where all individuals are valued and compensated fairly for their contributions.
