International Subcommittee

Co-Chairs: LeAnn Naillon; Larissa Martin

Statement of Purpose

The purpose of the International Subcommittee is to foster growth and development of the Independent Living movement internationally. The subcommittee will encourage collaboration, dialogue, and consultation of Centers for Independent Living (CILs) and Independent Living advocates throughout the world. The subcommittee will share information about CILs and IL advocates outside the U.S., as well as NCIL’s own work on international issues.

Objectives

  • Create space and opportunities for CILs and IL advocates from all across the world to collaborate and dialogue with each other.
  • Encourage contributions of other countries to the development of the International Subcommittee’s work, goals, and mission.
  • Represent NCIL in the World Independent Living Network (WIN) and ensure WIN’s successful development.
  • Support WIN’s mission, goals, and work.
  • Encourage advocates within the IL movement to travel to other countries and visit CILs and other disability organizations to exchange information and collaborate.
