NCIL Mourns the Loss of Tim Sheehan

NCIL is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Tim Sheehan. Tim was a powerful force in Independent Living and a dedicated advocate.

Tim was Executive Director at the Center for Independent Living for Western Wisconsin (CILWW), now Compass IL, for 20 years until his retirement in 2021.

He served on the NCIL Governing Board as Region 5 Representative for a decade. He received the NCIL Region 5 Advocacy Award in 2005 and the President’s Award in 2010.

He served many years on the Wisconsin Statewide Independent Living Council (SILC) and as President of the Association of Programs for Independent Living (APRIL), along with many years of service on various other committees advocating for the rights of people with disabilities.

His humor, passion, dedication, friendship, and advocacy skills will be deeply missed, and his contributions to the Independent Living Movement will be remembered.

NCIL is thankful for the honor of having had him as a leader in our community for so many years.
