SMILES is seeking a dynamic and mission-driven Executive Director to lead a respected nonprofit empowering individuals with disabilities to live independently and fully participate in their communities.
Serving Southern Minnesota since 1988, SMILES is a consumer-controlled organization, with leadership guided by individuals with disabilities and the Independent Living Philosophy.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day operations across multiple locations
- Develop and manage budgets and financial reporting
- Secure funding through grants, partnerships, and fundraising
- Oversee programs and ensure high-quality services
- Partner with the Board of Directors on strategy and governance
- Serve as a community leader and advocate for disability rights
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- 3+ years of leadership/management experience
- Experience with budgeting, supervision, and fundraising
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Passion for disability advocacy and independent living
Lived experience with disability is strongly encouraged.
