Independent Living Funded for FY 2026!
Dear Independent Living Community,
We have good news!
Yesterday, Congress approved a spending package that secures Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 funding for most federal agencies, including the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education. This means that more than 95% of the federal government is now funded for the remainder of the fiscal year. The Independent Living Program is level-funded at $128 Million for Part B and Part C.
This bill also includes our Administration for Community Living (ACL) partners who are funded under the Administration on Disability for FY 2026.
We know that work continues during shutdowns, and we want to acknowledge everyone who continues to show up for our community during this time.
NCIL staff and leadership are in DC this week and will continue to monitor developments closely. We’ll share updates on Part B Notices of Award as soon as we know more.
Email NCIL Director of Advocacy and Public Policy Jessica Podesva at jessica@ncil.org with questions. Please reach out if your organization is experiencing any hardships because of the delayed funding.
