Webinar Description

The Independent Living Movement was founded on disability-led and consumer-driven systems advocacy. However, some Centers for Independent Living (CILs) are struggling to provide this core service. Join us for a conversation with System Change Advocates who are doing disability-led and consumer-driven systems advocacy at Centers for Independent Living and Statewide Independent Living Councils (SILCs).

What you will learn:

  • Why is systems advocacy important to the Independent Living Network
  • Strategies for disability-led and consumer-controlled systems advocacy
  • Strategies for consumer engagement and consumer control

Target Audience:

Staff and Board members of Centers for Independent Living (CILs), Statewide Independent Living Councils (SILCs), and Designated State Entities (DSEs).

Presenters:

  • Rosalie Eisenreich, Strategic Initiatives Director, Southeastern Minnesota Center for Independent Living
  • Felix Jordan, Community Organizer, Boston Center for Independent Living
  • Edward Mitchell, Director, Tennessee SILC
  • Jessica Podesva, J.D., Director of Advocacy and Public Policy, National Council on Independent Living

Registration Fee: This event is free-of-charge.
